Dukes Creek

-Chad and I took advantage of having a few days off this February and a break in the rain by taking a trip up to Dukes Creek. The day started out slow but as the temperature started to rise into the 40’s the fishing started to pick up. With the water levels at Dukes Creek is as high as it has been in years due to the rain it has received this past winter the fish are distributed throughout the stream. Chad and I found a nice stretch of water that provided the two of us the ability to fish within shouting distance of each other. After a few deep water drifts with a Y2K and San Juan Worm combo I started getting on some fish. What made this trip great was I decided to take out my new small stream set up, a Johnson & Johnson 6’ 3wt with a ultra light Able reel, and it made even the smallest fish feel like a whale. After landing four nice rainbows and having a couple get away, Chad and I headed back to Atlanta.
